About Me
Artist Statement:
As an artist, I create intricate compositions using only torn paper scraps. Each piece invites the viewer to look closer—not just at the textures and colors, but at the layered stories embedded within. I aim to reveal the inner depth of the women I portray, capturing a feeling, a quiet strength, a tender vulnerability.
Denise Rudy Bio:
Denise Rudy is a lifelong artist specializing in painting and collage. With a background in art education from Ohio University, a BA in Social Science, and a certificate in Expressive Healing Arts from the University of Florida, Denise Rudy has spent decades fostering creativity as a full-time Associate Professor Palomar Community College. In addition to teaching, she has led expressive art workshops and classes based on The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron. These classes help others tap into their creative potential. Now dedicating more time to her personal artistic practice, Denise creates intricate collage portraits using only paper and glue. Her work explores the depth of human emotion, and beauty found in layering textures and colors to form striking compositions. With a foundation in social science and art, Denise believes in the transformative power of creativity, both as a personal practice and a means of connection. Committed to continuous growth and community engagement, she seeks opportunities for artistic immersion and collaboration. As she transitions into full-time artistry, her focus remains on expanding her artistic practice to push creative boundaries, and to share her passion for art with a wider audience.
